Bathrooms are probably the most room in a house and yet sadly often the one room which is overlooked when it comes to interior design styles.
Although bathrooms have to be practical and functional places to abandon their design style is a mistake many people make.
As the bathroom is usually the smallest room in the house they can be transform and rejuvenated inexpensively and fast.
One of the easiest way to bring a bathroom up to date is to have a white bathroom suite. These offer the possibility of using any accent colours and still look striking.
Mixing old with new is one of this years in vogue trends, so although you may not wish to replace the whole bathroom suite it is possible to inject a clean and fresh look by simply giving careful consideration to the colour you use.
Before you begin it is best to take a step back, look at what you have. If you are on a restricted budget it may not be possible to replace the suite, however with some careful styling your bathroom can become more than just a place it wash!
Free standing baths in either a modern design or reproductions of Victorian roll top and slipper baths are among this years collision of old and new. Designers have taken these classic shapes and used them to brighten up a bath by having bold and vivid colours on the outside. By taking this idea and painting the side of your bath with paints which have been specifically designed for baths you can recreate this design styles.
Those that have a bath with a side panel may like to think about replacing this and incorporating some striking tile work which covers the walls, the side of the bath and the floor to provide a striking and cohesive visual effect.
The great advantage of using bold colours such as blue, red and orange with white is the possibility to chose one of these as the accent colour for the window dressing. Blinds are always a good option in a bathroom due to their resilience against damp conditions.
Black may seem a bit gloomy for a bathroom, but when used with crisp whites the effect can look stunning. Lacy shower curtains add a touch of femininity particularly in pale creams or white. Add some pretty lace edged towels and the room will start to come together beautifully.
Keep with the main theme of white and add narrow louver Venetian blinds for privacy and an clean feel to the room. The great thing about using a blind fitted into the recess of the window, is that the sill will be left free to add personal touches such as delicate perfume bottles and a glass vase filled with fresh, fragrant flowers. No clutter is the hallmark of making bathroom designs a success. Using vanity style units or if the bathroom is large enough a free standing cupboard would be ideal.
Try and keep to a specific theme for the bathroom and you can produce some stunning design styles which do not cost a fortune. Scour charity shops, visit boots fairs and markets to pick up inexpensive items like old fashioned wooden towel rails and framed mirrors to add the finishing touches.
